Hi! Hello! Welcome!
I’ve been eating some good gummies lately, and I decided I should start a blog. It still seemed like a good idea the next day, so here we are.
I guess you should know a few things about me:
My name is [redacted]. I’m twenty-something years old. I’m part of one of the least marginalized groups in the LGBTQIA+ community. For those following that’s cis-white-lesbian. And all I mean by that is that straight men think lesbians are either:
a) hot
or
b) cool
And straight women are just jealous. I’m kidding, of course!
But really, though. It is not my wish to discount anyone’s struggles. I speak mostly for my local community. And that’s what this is about: very specific experiences as a queer person in rural America. I live in a very strange little part of the United States. It’s like a microcosm of bigotry and hate. I will always admit that I am very lucky. I have people who love and support me in my life no matter what. Seriously. No matter what. Even so, I will be staying in the closet until all of my grandparents have passed. I know it’s morbid, but I don’t want to lose that favorite-granddaughter status. Or be written out of any wills. Every day it’s getting harder for me to stay quiet about it, though. I need to get it out my system, so–once again– here we are.
All I want is for the weird kids in growing up like I did to know they’re not alone, things can get better, therapy is amazing, and your real friends do love you and want to help you. If I could go back in time, I’d tell my younger self that. It would save her a lot of fear and self-loathing.
